There are several types of glass you can chose to have in your picture frame.

Standard Float Glass

This is the normal glass in most of our picture frames. its the default choice and what is in all our ready made standard size frames. (unless stated).
Standard glass doesn't really protect the artwork inside, so its fine for generic picture, prints or inexpensive items. It lets UV through so if you're putting it in a sunny spot, consider any damage that may occurs to the item in the frame.

Its also glossy looking so reflective, this means you can see lights, sun and windows in the reflection of the glass.

Non Reflective Glass

This is the same as standard float glass but has a coating which reduces glare and reflections.

This is helpful if you're putting your picture frame in a sunny spot or where lots of lighting is going to be reflected it the photo frame. It has more of an opaque look to stop glare but still doesn't stop UV damage so you should be cautious where you place these frames in direct sunlight.

Art Glass

Art glass is the absolute premium when it comes to glass. It offers the best visual appearance and protects the artwork long term. Not only does the glass look invisible it doens't reflect. It's great in sunny locations or bright places where reflections could be annoying. Art glass also makes the artwork in the picture frame brighter and look clearer and more vivid. See below the examples:

Styrene

For larger frames its too risky to post glass. So where stated we use a high quality styrene.

This is like a plastic glass which can still look stunning once all mounted up and on the wall. Its clear whilst not being a shiny as glass so you may even prefer the look.

Non-Reflective Styrene.

The same as styrene but coated in a non-reflective coating to help with reflections.

If you visit us in our shop in Tadcaster, then we can make frames any size with any glass. But online typically once the frame gets over a 20 x 16 its going to come with styrene.
